Job Summary

The QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring all work complies with approved specifications, standards, and client requirements through independent inspection and verification. This role supports early defect detection, prevents rework, and safeguards project quality, operational efficiency, and company reputation. The position plays a critical role in maintaining audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and delivering projects successfully under a “Right First Time” quality approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Quality Control (QC) procedures, standards, and inspection plans in accordance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.

• Follow inspections onboard / workshop / subcon workshop for ship machinery & equipment.

• Assist for WDR & KPI report

• Assist for estimation & repair report

• Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.

• Maintain quality records, inspection reports, test results, and documentation for audits and client review

• Review and approve Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and Quality Documents from subcontractors.

• Identify, record, and report Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.

• Ensure all works are completed “Right First Time” to minimize rework and delays.

• Maintain quality records for audits and certifications.

• Prepare daily/weekly quality reports for management.

• Follow up on corrective measures to ensure effectiveness.

• Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO and project quality standards.

• Participate in project meetings to report quality status, risks, and improvement actions.

• Verify compliance with technical specifications, drawings, and standards.

Key Requirements

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Quality Control within construction, shipyard, fabrication, or manufacturing projects.

• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, or equivalent).

• Experience in managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.

• Hands-on experience in inspection of mechanical, structural, piping, or electrical works (as applicable to the project scope).

• Proven experience in preparing and implementing Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Quality Plans, and Method Statements.

• Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating with engineering, production, and HSE departments.

• Ability to prepare clear inspection reports, quality records, and handover dossiers.

Education and Key certifications necessary

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline)

• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor Certification.

• QC / QA Certification from a recognized body (e.g., CSWIP, TWI, ASQ, or equivalent).

• Welding Inspection Certification (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI) – for fabrication or shipyard projects.

• NDT Level II Certification (UT, MT, PT, RT) – where inspection of critical components is required.

• Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt – as an added advantage for process improvement.

• HSE/Safety Certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, or local equivalent).

• Diploma in Engineering with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.

• Formal training in Quality Management Systems (QMS) is an advantage.
