The Division: Hexagon Autonomous Solution comprises of three divisions: Agriculture, Autonomy & Positioning and Mining – Providing a breadth of perception, positioning, vehicle autonomy and site orchestration technologies to enable the full autonomous solutions for the agriculture, mining, automotive and marine sectors.

The Position: Reporting to the Team Lead, we are seeking a Software Engineering student to join our Software Services & Support team in Balikpapan. This internship is for 2025/2026 Academic students. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our Software Services & Support team delivering and supporting Hexagon’s mining technology.

As a Software Services & Support Intern for this role, opportunities of work involvement will include;

Technical Documentation

• Assist the Services & Support team on a range of internal initiatives around technical documentation or process improvement projects or workflow establishment

Minor Software Development Projects

• Contribute to the development of software solutions for internal projects. This may involve coding, testing, debugging, and implementing internal tools under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Technical Simulators

• • Assist in the setup of technical simulators to replicate real-world scenarios. These simulators will help test and validate the performance of Hexagon's products and technologies.

This position is based on-site in Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur. Hours will be part time- 2 or 3 days per week Monday to Friday 8-5pm and uphold a 6-month duration. Commencement in role is planned December 2025

About you

In addition, we are seeking those with the following qualifications and skills;

Technical

• A 2nd or 3rd year student studying a degree in computer science, software engineering, mining engineering or information technology and have completed at least your 2nd year of studies by the start of your work term, returning to post secondary upon completion of the internship
• Available for a 6 month work term across part time (2/3 8hr days per week).
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Confident Self-starter
• Detail oriented person able to follow complex instructions with a “first-time right” attitude
• Motivated by challenging work
• You are comfortable working individually but know when to ask for help

Desirable

• Interest in applying technology in a real-world environment
• Personal hobbies and/or projects using a variety of technology
• Ruby on Rails, Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript, SQL
• Experience in Linux-like Operating Systems would be desirable
