Sea Creatures Diving is a dive center in Labuan Bajo, Komodo. We provide daily dive trips to the Komodo National Park. Our personalized and high-level of service and our fast and luxurious speed boat is one reason why our customers love us.

We are looking for a Dive Instructor who can lead dives, teach PADI courses, and contribute to daily operations. They will aim to provide the best service possible to high-end customers from Europe, Australia, and America.

The ideal candidate would be a PADI certified Instructor with active teaching status. They are customer focused and are interested in making the experience as enjoyable as possible for every guest, even when it means extra effort. The Dive Instructor is a leader on the boat who is responsible for planning dives, assessing the conditions of each dive site and determining the best approach, and ensuring that all guests have a safe and successful dive. Our instructors contribute to operational tasks, like coordinating gear, assisting with repairs, and ensuring the right items are on the boat each day. The ideal candidate is an expert in fish and coral identification and has the knowledge of how to seek out specific creatures. They should love diving and enjoy helping others improve their diving skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead certified divers on daily fun dives in a safe manner
• Plan and teach PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master
• Ensure all requirements are met for each course, and coordinate with support staff to ensure that all the necessary gear is available and paper work completed
• Be the customer’s primary point of contact on the dive boat and communicate all necessary information to guests
• Determine dive groups by experience level and communicate important information about the customers to each dive lead
• Have knowledge of tides, moon cycles and currents and use it to make good choices about which sites to visit each day, and how to dive them safely
• Contribute to daily trip preparations, including collecting gear, setting-up dive kits, organizing the boat, and picking up supplies
• Communicate gear maintenance needs to management on a daily basis
• Use good judgement and take action to avoid dangerous situations
• Possess strong communication and leadership skills
• Other tasks, as assigned

Requirements:

• A customer-first mindset and willingness to go above and beyond to exceed customer expectations
• Minimum PADI OWSI in teaching status
• Must have experience diving in strong currents; experience leading dives in the Komodo National Park is a plus
• Must be proactive about protecting the ocean and set a positive example for how to interact with the marine world, including never touching coral or intentionally disturbing wildlife
• Ability to teach specialties in nitrox and current diving is strongly preferred; additional specialties a plus
• Experience purchasing and managing PADI courses and materials
• Willingness to use WhatsApp to communicate with the team and receive information about dive operations
• Fluent in English; other languages a plus
• Knowledge of the Indonesian language is a plus
• Safety conscious with a track record of making good decisions about weather/current/tide conditions
• Experience with maintenance of dive gear is a plus
• Willingness to work as a team, and proactively help others with tasks even if it’s outside of their responsibilities
• Positive attitude and a desire to socialize with guests
• Flexible, proactive, self-motivated with excellent teamwork
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with challenging situations
